Chula Vista FC is ready to face the L.A. Wolves in the second round of the 2017 US Cup. Chula Vista FC’s star striker, Alberto Diaz, said: “It will be a very complicated game. We already know how they play. We will prepare and we will be ready for them.
“The team is ready!” Chula Vista FC’s Head Coach, Hector Diaz, said. “We have a suspended player and a couple of injuries but we have a strong bench. People will step in and do their job.” Center Back, Gilbert Perez got a red card last Wednesday and is one of the players that will be unable to play this match.
Former Chula Vista FC’s President, Hugo Molina, said: “The game against the Wolves will be more complicated than Albion. I know that they are now coached by Eric Wynalda and they have some experienced players. I believe if we do not make many errors, we have a chance to advance. The talent
is there.” Molina was still happy about last Wednesday’s victory over Albion and thought that: “Experience was the edge we had over them and it proved to be the deciding factor.” Molina, who was Club President for more than 10 years, is delighted on the direction the club has taken: “I always dreamed about the club taking this direction. Hector Diaz has led them this way and with the addition of Ruben Cano and some professional players the club is going to become even better.”
The L.A. Wolves started to play back in 2014 and are currently playing in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). In 2016, The Wolves advanced to the US Cup’s Third round, losing to La Maquina, 0-2. They are coached by former US National Soccer Team’s star striker, Eric Wynalda, who took over the team just this past February 10th with the intention to make “a deep run in the 2017 Lamar Hunt US Cup.”
Chula Vista FC will try to equal its historic performance in 2015 when they made it all the way to the US Cup’s Third Round where they lost to Sacramento FC. They attracted national attention since nobody thought that a little amateur club from Southern California could make it that far.
Chula Vista faithful fans are expected to follow the team to Azusa Pacific University’s Soccer Field. The game will be played this Wednesday, May 17th at 7:30 PM.
