Chula Vista FC’s B2011 MLS Next team is off to an amazing 16-0 start. The boys have risen to the occasion and dealt both LA Galaxy and LA FC their only losses of the season. Additionally, among their 16 victories are wins against both Real Salt Lake (Mesa and Arizona) teams, and they have also beaten Albion SC twice.

The boys are led by former Chula Vista FC player standout and former member of the US Youth National Team, Alberto ‘Beto’ Diaz. Beto was also named Open Cup Player of the Tournament for week two of the memorable 2015 Chula Vista FC team that advanced to Lamar Hunt’s US Open Cup, drawing national attention and being labeled the Cinderella story of the tournament. “The team has come a long way. We have improved and keep getting better. I’m very proud of the boys, but we know we have a lot of room for improvement and can’t settle,” Beto said. Beto added, “We ALWAYS must want to get better. We’ve had some good games and some bad games, but we’ve found ways to win games, and that shows we’re becoming a great team. We’ve got a long way to go. But I can proudly say we have a great team and a great group of parents that are committed to the cause.”

Chula Vista FC’s Academy Director and proud brother of Alberto, Jose Hector Diaz, pointed out: “I’m grateful to the families who remained patient and kept faith in our club, enduring many losses until we reached this milestone. I’ve always believed that if we develop correctly, victories will follow, and now they’re here. I recognize room for improvement, and we’re committed to improving our team.”

Chula Vista FC’s Technical Director, Eden Esquerre, said, “Our B2011 team wins no matter if they play a good game or not. They have a lot of players who individually carry the team. They are having a great season.” Esquerre added, “All of our MLS teams have the same identity and structure. Our style of play is to have ball possession and play offensively.”

In addition to the B2011 squad, Chula Vista FC’s MLS Next other teams have also been competitive all season long, especially the B2008 team, who are 10-7-1. This team will participate in the MLS Next Fest tournament, where they will face Inter Miami. Other teams participating in MLS Next Fest are the B2007s, B2009s, and B2005s.

The B2011s now enter the Winter break and will be recharging their energies to close out the second half of the season, which will include a showdown against TFA, who are right behind them with a 13-0-1 record. We will keep you posted on further developments.
