Chula Vista FC’s Academy Director, Jose Hector Diaz, shares his Scotland’s experience.

Chula Vista FC’s Academy Director, Jose Hector Diaz, went to Scotland to obtain his UEFA C license. Diaz shared his experience: “My experience in Scotland was fantastic! The Scottish Football Association arranged for great instructors to lead the course. The city of Edinburgh was also excellent. It’s a big town or small city, depending on how you look at it, but it’s friendly, safe, and hospitable. December was incredible because I could wander the Christmas market and taste delicious food.” Diaz also explains why he took the UEFA C class when he has already obtained the USSF A license: “There are no additional licenses that I can apply to in US Soccer. We can always strive to keep learning and advancing. The best soccer is still played in the old continent, and Scotland has produced some exceptional managers.” Diaz also would love to have more of Chula Vista FC’s coaches experience what he did in Europe: “I want to motivate coaches within our club to continue pursuing coaching education outside of the United States, and with that, seeing a new country, making new friends, and seeing soccer elsewhere will be an excellent overall experience.” Diaz plans to finish his UEFA C course by completing a few more online modules and then pursue the UEFA B course.

Diaz accomplishments have also benefited Chula Vista FC in many ways. The club has grown immensely in the last years and has positioned itself as a contender in leagues such as MLS Next and Elite Academy. The sky is the limit for what Diaz and Chula Vista FC will accomplish in the near future.
