Proud CVFC Alumnus. Former player of the club from 2000 to 2010. In 2019 I was invited to return to the club as a coach. I currently serve as Assistant Academy Director and Head Coach of the 2007 MLS NEXT. In addition to this, I am pursuing my MBA in Sports Management. I have the USSF B License and the Mexican Soccer Federation’s Technical Director’s license.

Alberto Diaz

Alberto, a former United States Youth National Team player, distinguished himself as the Lamar Hunt’s Open Cup Player of the Tournament in Week 2. He has also been honored with the CalSouth Player of the Year award both as a youth and an adult. His exceptional recognition extends from his playing days to his coaching career. As a coach, he has excelled, particularly with his 2008 group, which has propelled players to MLS Youth Academies. His top 2011 team achieved national acclaim, notably defeating teams like LA Galaxy and LAFC. Alberto’s success in developing young athletes is founded on his principles of patience, persistence, and passion.

Hector Diaz

Hector Diaz’s journey as a coach started when he began training his son. His dedication and hard work paid off as he was able to help five of his players make it to the youth national team. This remarkable achievement was accomplished with his four state championship-winning teams. His expertise in managing the game environment for top players is unparalleled, and he continues to oversee top-performing teams. Hector Diaz’s ability to instill confidence in elite players has earned him a reputation as one of the best coaches in San Diego.

In my years of coaching this beautiful sport called futbol (soccer), I’ve had the great responsibility of coaching, but also the opportunity to learn so much from all the players and coaches with whom I’ve had the privilege to work. It’s a truly gratifying feeling as a coach to be able to contribute to the development of a soccer player. As a coach of youth players, you realize that you are part of a process in their growth as a player. The important thing is not only to develop good soccer players but, more importantly, to shape excellent human beings. This involves helping them build confidence, fostering self-belief, and providing them with tools that can aid their development both in soccer and in life beyond the sport.

Ricardo Del Castillo

I was born in Tijuana, Mexico. I have been playing soccer since the age of 7. Played for Club Tijuana’s 3rd division team. I have been coaching since 2017, and DV7 gave me the first opportunity to start my career as a soccer coach. I moved to the USA in 2017 and hold U.S. soccer licenses for 4v4, 9v9, and 11v11. I am currently enrolled in the D license course.

Marcos Valadez

I’m Marcos Valadez, current Boys U19 EA coach. Soccer is my lifestyle. Played professionally for 7 years for Mexican Club Pachuca. Studied Physical Education at the Autonomous University of Baja California. This was to support and share my knowledge in the sports field, help in player development, and instill values that players can use in their daily lives. Started coaching in Tecate, BC, Mexico (2010-12) and joined Chula Vista FC in 2017. Here I have been Head Coach for Presidio teams and the DA, and Head coach or assistant for various MLS and EA teams.

Born and raised in Chula Vista and playing years of competitive soccer, it’s what gave me a love for the sport. I have coached soccer, football and lacrosse for the last 20 years, from youth levels, to high school level.

As the  current Head Coach for CVFC 2014 Girls team, I take pride in building strong team bonds and teaching innovative technique to the local youth community.

Had the opportunity to be a Director of coaching for a soccer club for about six years. I have the capacity to coach girls and boys of all ages.
I believe commitment, discipline and hard work are key for player development and most importantly to become good citizens and leaders in their community. I have passion and respect for the game. I work hard to continue to develop as a coach and prepare as much as I can with the evolution of the game.

Played pro soccer for 12 yrs, starting at CHIVAS. I was a goalie and played in a U-17 World Cup in ’93 in Japan & the Libertadores Cup. Also, competed in top division with CHIVAS, Tijuana, and Veracruz. Soccer instilled discipline and shaped my resilience.

Arthur Guaracha

Since 2011, I have coached both boys and girls with a goal to positively develop players emotionally, psychologically, and physically through the game of soccer. I started coaching my son when he was 5 years old and playing in a recreational league. I continued to coach him into his 18th birthday at a very high competitive level. I now coach my daughter’s team. I am fortunate to spend this time with my children and also serve as a positive role model for my community. I hold a US Soccer D License and Doctorate of Educational Leadership from SDSU.

Ever since I began my coaching career, because of my daughter, I have found it exciting and rewarding. The excitement the kids show when they are finally able to do drills or technic that they felt like they couldn’t do is what makes me want to keep coaching.

Alejandro Medel

In 2009, Alejandro joined Chula Vista FC, coinciding with his son’s initiation into youth soccer in the United States. Originally from San Diego, Alejandro spent two decades in Chile, where his love for futbol blossomed. With over 14 years of coaching experience, he is dedicated to fostering a dynamic, healthy, enjoyable, competitive atmosphere for players of various ages. His coaching emphasizes not only competitiveness but also instills sportsmanship and collaboration skills, aspiring to extend them beyond the soccer field. Rooted in South American football culture, Alejandro, with a bachelor’s in computer engineering and a US National D license, takes immense pride in witnessing the transformative journey of our club over the years. This pride is fueled by the exceptional individuals who contribute to the club, making it a true #CVFC4Life experience for him and his family.

I grew up playing competitive soccer in the South Bay since I was a kid and all the way through college. After graduating from college, I returned to the sport I love: Soccer. I am passionate about developing talented, technical, gifted players and taking them to the next level. In my 15+ years coaching career, I have played a role in developing and creating highly competitive teams that have competed at the highest level, not only in the US, but also in Mexico and in Spain. After taking a 5 year break from coaching to support my two competitive athletic kids with their athletic journeys, I have returned to CVFC to continue working and developing talented players once again.

Born and raised in Chula Vista, I grew up playing soccer in various clubs within San Diego. After club soccer, I played at the college level and in the US Army where I had the opportunity to play against other countries’ military teams. I am currently working on my US soccer D license and aspire to earn additional licenses abroad.

I have been coaching competitive soccer for 4 years and now have the privilege to be a part of CVFC as the coach of the 2015 boys Guaje team. I am excited to be a part of CVFC because of their ability to develop players through proven soccer methodology. I love to develop players and make them better people. I always want the players to achieve their goals and do better than me. Born in Los Angeles and raised in San Diego. I have been a part of the San Diego Soccer Community for 20+ years as a player and 10 years as a coach. I am the head Coach for both Boys and Girls Varsity programs at Hoover High school. I currently have a USSF D coaches license and I am attending school to receive my degree in Sports Management. I became a coach to give back to the community that watched me grow and to help my players develop as student athletes so that they can grow to become model citizens for their communities. There’s no better feeling then the look on my kids face when they are walking across the podium on Graduation Day when you realize all that hard work has finally paid off.
