Oscar Zamora

Registrar/Vice President of Administration

I have been with Chula Vista FC since 2008 when they were still the Chula Vista Pumas. Started as Head Coach for my son’s BU14 team. That same year, I took over as the Club’s Secretary.  In 2010 I became the club’s Registrar and in 2012, became the club’s President for two years. After that, I went back to being the club’s Registrar as well as Head Coach for several teams. In 2022, I retired from coaching and became club’s Vice President of Administration.

As Head Coach, I was blessed to have had extremely talented players and won multiple tournaments as well as league titles with them. I was able to create a family atmosphere with my players and their parents and made soccer even more enjoyable. I have the E coaching license.

I love the structure that the club now has and also the passion and dedication that our Directors, Administrators and Coaching Staff have towards making high-quality soccer available at an affordable price to our Chula Vista and surrounding cities.

As a side note, I worked as a Sportscaster for Tijuana’s XHAS Channel 33 back in 1994-95 and then again in 1998. I have a Bachelor of Science and Applied Arts in Radio and Television degree from San Diego State University. Soccer has been my passion since I was a kid. I played center back for my school’s team and my idol was Franz Beckenbauer.

Marcelo Benitez

Uniform Coordinator

I have been a proud resident of Chula Vista since 1991 and joined Chula Vista FC in 2004, initially as a parent, then as a Team Manager, followed by Assistant Coach, and eventually Coach. With the support of my family, we continued a program designed for very young children called Little Pumitas Academy. We successfully operated the Little Pumitas program for 2 years, providing training sessions twice a week and organizing matches against other clubs on Saturdays.

Currently, I serve our club as a Board Member and as the Representative for uniforms. The reason I have remained involved with our club for so long is because I wanted to ensure that our youth had a positive outlet and were engaged in soccer rather than being exposed to negative influences from the streets. Another significant factor was the shared vision our club had for the future, along with the passion and leadership of our then Director of Coaching, Héctor Díaz Jr.

Héctor and I shared the same ideas for the kids in our community, aiming to establish a club that was affordable yet well-structured. Fast forward to today, our club is guided by professional directors, notably our Director of Coaching, Rubén Cano.

I am a proud retired veteran, having served 26 years in The United States Marine Corps. SEMPER FI!!

Vicente Ortiz

Registrar

I have been with Chula Vista FC since 2021 as full time Registrar for our Elite Academy teams and as an alternative Registrar for the Socal and MLS Next teams. Also, I was the Registrar from the inauguration of DV7 for two years and established all administrative processes for the Club.
Previously I was affiliated with Bonita Matrix as Registrar, Coach, AYSO 116 U10 Girls director and board member. I have a coaching history with U08 Boys, U10 Boys, U13 Girls, and U14 Girls.
My son currently plays with the B2007 Elite Academy team and we have been associated with CVFC since 2016.
I retired in January of 2023 from the naval service after 26 years of honorable service. I was drawn to serve for Chula Vista FC Administration staff because of the passion and selflessness that all members show to provide a soccer program to the community at an affordable fee with a highly certified coaching staff and established style of play provided by David Villa DV7 program
