Join the first-ever Foody McFoody Face Food Drive from Saturday, July 1 to Sunday, July 9 as we collect nonperishable food items benefitting the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank!
Nearly 15% of San Diego County’s 3.1 million residents live in poverty, facing hunger or food insecurity on a daily basis. Our citywide drives will collect on behalf of the central food bank that provides assistance to over 400,000 residents each month, including low-income military personnel and their families, fixed-income seniors, and students across 11 county school districts.
“Ever since the campaign to bring MLS to San Diego began, we recognized the power we have when we strive towards a common goal.” said Daryl Biggs. Inspired by the charitable works practiced by supporter groups across the globe as well as SoccerCitySD’s vision that the city we love grow into North America’s hub for the beautiful game, Foody McFoody Face was born. We’re establishing a homegrown, people-driven tradition that will impact our fellow citizens and unify the community under the San Diego sun.
“San Diegans across the county are encouraged to bring boxes and cans for a cause as you cheer on the U.S. Men’s National Team, facing off against Ghana at 1:45pm PT, before a full slate of MLS action on Saturday, July 1st.” said Marisa Cali. The food drive continues Sunday, July 2nd as soccer fans and friends throughout the city gather to take in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup Final. Can’t make it this weekend? There will be subsequent online food drive where people can donate on behalf of Foody McFoody Face. Visit this link to donate online.
Donate and enjoy midweek MLS matches on Tuesday, July 4th and Wednesday, July 5th, before joining us for three days of CONCACAF Gold Cup matchups, starting Friday, July 7th.
Fill those big red Food Bank donation barrels on your way into viewing parties to sing and cheer alongside the American Outlaws while the U.S. Men’s National Teamtakes on Panama at 1:30pm PT on Saturday, July 8th, and a Gold Cup doubleheader at Qualcomm Stadium on Sunday, July 9th, as Curacao battles Jamaica before El Salvador takes on Mexico! Our friends and collaborators representing Pancho Villa’s Army will be there in full force to cheer on El Tri! “It is remarkable that fans who root for the Mexican National Team are just as passionate about the San Diego community as we are.” said Jonny Rico.
