Chula Vista FC vs La Maquina

It's an exciting time to be a part of Chula Vista FC, as the club embark on what will hopefully be another historic run in the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

This year, there are a total of three qualifying rounds, which must be played in order to reach the first round proper.  The first round handed Chula Vista, what looked like a tricky match on paper and that certainly proved to be the case, especially in the early stages.  Chula Vista were drawn to play Temecula FC away from home, a team who play their football in the National Premier Soccer League.

The match was tough going for Chula Vista early on, with Temecula taking a two goal advantage in to half-time.  Things did not look good for Chula Vista but if the last two years are anything to go by, fans should know not to write Chula Vista off in the US Open Cup and it proved to be the case again here.  Chula Vista staged a remarkable come-back, which saw them score 5 goals in the second half without reply and progress to the second qualifying round was secured in spectacular fashion.

The draw for the second round was kind to Chula Vista, in that the club will play the match at their home ground.  However, that's where the kindness ends, as they now face United Premier Soccer League South East Division team, La Maquina FC.

La Maquina FC have been enjoying a good season in the USPL and at the time of writing, sit second in the South East Division.  With only two matches left in their league campaign, La Maquina FC boast a 75% win percentage for this season and have won eight of their last ten matches.  Therefore, however they fare in their last two league games of the season, La Maquina FC are a team who are used to winning soccer matches and will provide a real test for Chula Vista FC.

Prior to the match, which takes place on 21st November, Chula Vista will be hoping to return to winning ways themselves, having yet to win a league game this season.  However, there are two fixtures before the meeting with La Maquina to put that right and the US Open Cup always seems to bring the very best out of the team.

With the possibility of another great run in the US Open Cup beckoning, there is sure to be a great atmosphere inside the ground.  The fans will be cheering on, as Chula Vista aim to defeat La Maquina FC and progress to the third qualifying round of the 2016 US Open Cup.
